Time to Give Thanks

Thanksgiving is my favorite “relaxation holiday.” There is none of the hustle and bustle of the commercial side of Christmas. It is just a day to relax, enjoy a good meal and assess the year that will shortly end. It is a lovely time to get together with family and enjoy good conversation and tasty food. For me, the food is very traditional….some say boring, but the repetition of satisfying food and the continuity of a yearly ritual can be very comforting, especially during trying times.

This Thanksgiving, the menu has little deviation from prior years: turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, sausage and chestnut dressing, turnips, Italian green beans, apricot halves stuffed with tiny cranberries, cranberry sauce, fruit and nuts. This will be preceded by whatever antipasto my husband comes up with, and it will be washed down with a great wine. Dessert will be pumpkin cheesecake with either espresso, or Vanilla Macadamia coffee.

This year, I will give thanks for our good health, and for you, my wonderful readers. Please use my contact form to tell me about your holiday and your special traditions. You never know….your comments may wind up in a book someday.

Happy Thanksgiving!
